Lo-Fi Rainy Day PLAYlist
It’s been rainy and dark the past week, we’ve been enjoying getting ready for bed a little earlier to get cozy together and read aloud. We’re currently reading our friend Vera Brosgol’s '“Return to Sender” which has some really great cliffhangers built in and definitely keeps us hooked for “one more chapter!” as both boys try to guess what will happen next. I was surprised when they both told me they prefer being read to more than watching a movie! The shared joy of old school lo-fi entertainment is pretty special.
I think winter brings those things back to us, playing cards and chess, doing a puzzle (to be clear, I hate doing puzzles, but I get why folks enjoy it!) and my favorite hobby, drinking copious cups of tea and listening to old jazz records. Gabe solved a rubik’s cube for the first (3) times this week, and is crocheting a blanket. Leo is reading thick compilations of Calvin and Hobbes and fiddling with some play-dough. I’ll be fogging up the windows with steamy baked goods and enjoying watching the rain while Miles Davis infuses the bake. Feel free to write me about your cozy low tech winter hobbies, I love to hear your stories in my inbox, thanks for your notes!
