A fistful of Dollars

You may not have considered this before, but all payment processors charge fees for their services. As pressure seems to mount towards moving us to a “convenient and cash free” society, of course someone is always profiting in the background, scraping the crusts off all the payments you make to your local small business. In a big box store, I don’t think twice about swiping my card, but I do make a point to save my cash for when I’m at local restaurants, in the cafe or bookshop and particularly at the farmers market (which comes back this weekend on Saturday!) Of course I appreciate the convenience of payment processing and don’t mind at all easing the flow of commerce towards small artisans any way we can, BUT if you are passionate about getting money to those hard working folks with razor thin profit margins without letting big banks grift off a percentage, consider paying in cash when you are in our local spots and keep more money in our community where it belongs! (cheering and fists in the air implied)

Again. never apologize to me for using payment processing, I use it too AND I love the opportunity to exchange goods n services with you all, even if some company named stripe wants to take 40 cents out of it every time we have the privilege of hanging out, but the more we learn the more we know and the more we know the more we grow, right?
